Two brothers from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota say they are carrying on Lakota and family tradition by serving in the U.S. military.
Colin Whitebird, 23, interrupted his college studies to enlist. He was injured August 31 when he took a bullet while patrolling the streets in Baghdad.
Brendan Whitebird, 18, enlisted right after he graduated from high school. He's gone through basic training and says he is willing to serve in Iraq.
Their father, Francis Whitebird, served in Vietnam. Their great-great-grandfather, High Bald Eagle, fought at Little Big Horn against the U.S. 7th Cavalry.
