A delegation of Virginia Indians are having an "amazing" week in England, Ken Adams, the chief of the Upper Mattaponi Tribe, told The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Representatives of the state's eight tribes left for England last Wednesday. They have been making cultural presentations, visiting schools and attending scholarly discussions.
On Sunday, the delegation visited St. George's Church in Gravesend, where Pocahontas was buried in 1912. "God had brought the spirit of Pocahontas to Gravesend to protect her, and we have come to your country to thank you for caring for her remains for almost 400 years," Anne Richardson, the chief of the Rappahannock Tribe, said.
Tribal members are posting accounts of the trip on a blog on the Richmond Times website.
