Rep. Jo Ann Davis (R-Virginia) introduced a bill to introduce the Rappahannock Tribe independent of another bill that would recognize six Virginia tribes.
Davis said she proposed the bill to outright bar gaming for the tribe. She said she was approached by the tribe to do so because the other bill doesn't include the same restriction.
Other tribes are concerned, said Wayne Adkins, the president of Virginia Indians Tribal Alliance for Life and chairman of the Chickahominy Tribe. He said the other tribes stand by the original bill.
