"The National Collegiate Athletic Association is at it again, fueling the absurd while missing opportunities to assist the student/athletes who participate under this organization's so-called blanket of protection.

While Purdue, for example, has waited more than a month for a ruling on freshman point guard Korey Spates' academic eligibility, the NCAA continues to revisit its hot topic -- 'hostile' or 'abusive' American Indian nicknames, mascots and logos.

On Tuesday, NCAA spokesman Bob Williams told The Associated Press that the Indianapolis-based organization is extending its postseason championships ban to include the Bowl Championship Series, which did not believe it had 'the governance structure to do what was necessary.'"
