"The Bok Homa casino seems to be causing a lot of problems for the residents in and near Sandersville. The problem that I have with this is that the casino has not opened yet. In response to Friday’s newspaper regarding the casino causing power outages, I feel that it is unfair to blame those power outages on the casino. Any natural catastrophe can cause outrages. During Hurricane Katrina, most residents were left without power, water and even food. A few hours without electricity is nothing compared to weeks without it. Mrs. Peggy Kidd had expressed her concerns about this issue that she claims has caused problems for her and her family during the last few weeks.
My advice is that the residents in that area should invest in this thing called a “generator.” All homes should have one, including my home. If someone is terminally ill or has any other medical problem that requires 24/7 constant electricity, purchasing a generator would be wise. Dixie Electric Power Company should not be blamed for supplying power to this new establishment. This is their job! No matter how long you have resided at a residence any new home or building has to have power just as the neighboring homes and buildings. Dixie Electric has no dealings with the casino causing power outages they are only doing their job.
Speaking of jobs, I attended the job fair in which interviews were being held for upcoming positions at the future casino. I was hired as a slot attendant. I have been unemployed for several months. I have been unable to find employment."
