Leaders of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians delayed a vote on a casino away from the main reservation.
The tribal council will meet May 19, instead of May 14. The outcome will dictate whether the tribe goes ahead with a casino near Sandersville
in Jones County.
The tribe operates two casinos in Philadelphia. That's about 80 miles from the proposed gaming site.
The tribe proposed an off-reservation casino in Jackson County a few years ago but ran into opposition. The land was taken into trust after the passage of the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act
