Three members of the Mississippi Band of
Choctaw Indians went to tribal court on Monday to ask for a reservation-wide referendum on a controversial casino project.
The tribal council voted 8-7 to build a casino near Sandersville. Vickie Rangel, Austin Tubby and Bobbie Frazier say tribal members have a right to vote on the issue.
The tribe operates two casinos at its headquarters in Philadelphia. The new site is
about 80 miles away but is still considered a part of the reservation.
