Federal employees might get raise

White House budget officials on Wednesday said federal agencies should plan for a 3.6 percent pay increase for civilian employees of the government.

The average salary is now $50,000, said the Office of Personnel Management. Representative Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md) said federal workers are paid 32 percent less than their non-government counterparts.
