GOP plan includes three casinos

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2002 GOP lawmakers in Massachusetts are proposing to authorize three casinos as a means of resolving some of the state's budget woes. In addition to the casinos, the lawmakers want to expand gaming. Slot machines would be allowed at racetracks and limits would be placed on the lottery. The state has one federally recognized tribe, the Gay Head Wampanoag. The tribe has sought a casino for years. Get the Story:
