JANUARY 9, 2001

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho has purchased 387 acres of land on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The land was bought with the tribe's casino profits for an undisclosed amount. The tribe hasn't yet decided what to do with the land.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the tribe's ownership of the southern third portion of the lake but the state has appealed the decision to the Supreme Court.
