Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O'Connor and Stephen Breyer completed their three-day tour of tribal court systems on Friday, participating in a panel discussion in Reno, Nevada.

The panel was hosted by the National American Indian Tribal Court Judges Association. Panel members criticized recent Supreme Court decisions which limited tribal authority.

The Justices recognized the complexity of sovereignty issues and said Congress might need to resolve some of the disputes. They also said Congress needs to provide more resources and judges for tribal courts.

The Justices visited the youth drug court on the Spokane Reservation in Washington and attended a mediation hearing on the Navajo Nation in Arizona.
