SEPTEMBER 11, 2000 Former Ontario Prime Minister Bob Rae is still deciding if he wants to mediate the ongoing dispute between the Burnt Church First Nation and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans but he says there is room for everyone to co-exist. "There's a role for the DFO in terms of conservation, there's certainly a role for the native fishery in the future and obviously the commercial fishery is something we want to make sure is strong and vital for the future of this province and of Canada," Rae told the CBC. Rae said he is talking to all parties first and then will decide if he wants to take the job. Get the Story:
