Foes of a proposed high-level nuclear waste storage facility in Nevada are using the threat of terrorism to bolster their opposition.

Terrorists would want to strike Yucca Mountain, they said at a public hearing on Wednesday. Or, terrorists would target cross-country shipments to the site, they claimed.

A number of state officials, lawmakers, residents and area tribes are opposing the facility. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham is set to make a recommendation on the site's suitability by the end of the year, or possibly early next year.
