The Tantaquidgeon Indian Museum, considered the oldest operating Indian museum in the country, reopened on Sunday after being refurbished by tribal members.

The museum was opened in 1931 by the Tantaquidgeon family. Two sisters, Gladys Tantaquidgeon and Ruth Tantaquidgeon, used money from their share of the tribe's casino to put in a new roof, install air conditioning, lay down carpeting and recatalog the museum's collection.
