OCTOBER 6, 2000

The American Indian Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is one of many groups seeking a low-power FM radio license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The center wants to use the station to broadcast news, music, and cultural programming. They are also considering broadcasting Native America Calling, a program on the American Indian Radio on Satellite (AIROS) network.

FCC Chairman William Kennard toured a local radio station with Native American broadcasters last week.
