SEPTEMBER 18, 2000 Green Party Vice Presidential candidate Winona LaDuke says campaigning in Indian Country involves partying at powwows, like the one she just attended this past weekend at the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. Unlike other candidates, LaDuke stands out for various reasons: Native American, woman, mother, and pow wow dancer. And although she identifies herself primarily as White Earth Ojibwe, she has a Jewish mother. The media has focused on Senator Joe Lieberman's Jewish faith. Get the Story:
