Suspect in Navajo death has hearing

MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 A New Mexico man suspected of beating a gay Navajo teen to death has his preliminary hearing today. Shaun Murphy, 18, has been charged with the murder of Fred Martinez Jr. The 16-year-old Navajo teen from Colorado was found beaten to death in what some are calling a hate crime. Martinez was gay and transgendered. Get the Story:
