JULY 12, 2000

Weber County law enforcement allegedly confiscated almost 10 pounds of peyote and $11,000 in cash after a woman apparently tipped them off to a ceremony being held in Ogden, Utah on July 8.

They also arrested an Ogden man who was holding the ceremony. The man said he had authorization to possess the peyote, which is illegal except for members of the Native American Church, but did not provide proof, according to police.

Police confiscated other items, including what appeared to be eagle feathers, condor feathers, and a bear skull.
