MAY 5, 2000 William Mehojah,The man reputed to be the last full-blooded Kaw, or Kanza, man died on April 23 in Omaha, Nebraska. The Kanza tribe's land was reduced from 20 million acres across northern Kansas and into Nebraska and Missouri to 2 million acres in 1825. The westward expansion of settlers led to the diminishment. In 1873, the federal goverment moved the tribe to northern Oklahoma. Get the Story:
