MacDonald addresses N.M.legislature

MARCH 16, 2001 Former Navajo Nation President Peter MacDonald on Thursday thanked New Mexico State lawmakers for supporting his bid to have his prison sentenced commuted. "You saved my life. You have dried the tears of my family and my people," MacDonald told the Senate. MacDonald was convicted in 1993 on federal charges of inciting a riot and accepting bribes. His 14-year sentenced was commuted by Bill Clinton on his last day as President in January. The Justice Department is reviewing all of Clinton's last-minute pardons and commutations. Get the Story:
