Red Lake leader dies

JANUARY 30, 2001 Lawrence Bedeau, a tribal council representative and director of the Department of Natural Resources of the Red Lake Ojibwe Tribe of Minnesota, died Friday at the age of 56 due to diabetes complications. Bedeau had two amputated legs, poor vision, and underwent regular dialysis treatments. Chairman Bobby Whitefeather said Bedeau always came to work despite his condition. Get the Story:
