Indian Santa delivers tree to DC

DECEMBER 5, 2000 The closest thing to an Indian Santa showed up in Washington, DC, on Monday. But it was really Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo). And instead of toys, he delivered a 65-foot Christmas tree to Capitol Hill yesterday. The tree was a gift from Colorado's Pike National Forest. Campbell drove it to DC himself, along with a Mack truck driver, the company who donated the use of the truck. It will be lit on December 13. Get the Story:
