Omaha Nation team receives sendoff

MARCH 8, 2001 The Omaha Nation boys basketball team on Wednesday night received a heroes sendoff as they left for Lincoln to compete in the Nebraska Boys State Basketball Tournament. The celebration was also special because, for the first time, the tribe's flag song will be performed at the team's tipoff game against Falls City Sacred Heart. Nebraska School Activities Association executive director Jim Riley asked the White Eagle Club of the Omaha Nation School to sing their flag song. The song is regularly peformed at tribal events and the basketball team says it motivates them. Get the Story:
