Judge extends term of court monitor
TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 2002 Last Updated: 12:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has extended the term of court monitor Joseph S. Kieffer III. Kieffer will investigate the Department of Interior's progress on trust reform for at least another year, according to an order filed in federal court yesterday. He will file reports as he has done for the past year, Lamberth said. Kieffer was appointed to his position a year ago today in response to concerns over the state of reform. He has produced six reports critical of key aspects of the Individual Indian Money (IIM) trust, including the historical accounting and verification of trust records. Related Documents:
