WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2002 President Norton, what are you wearing!? Although Secretary of Interior Gale Norton is eighth in line for succession should a terrible tragedy befall President Bush, his Cabinet and other top ranking members of the federal government, she wasn't nearly as close to becoming the leader of the free world as one might image, The Denver Post points out. Tucked away at a "secure location" during Bush's State of the Union address Tuesday night, Norton sat somewhere in apparent safety. But so did Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.), who as Senate President Pro Tem is ahead of Norton in terms of presidential succession. Get the Story:
