TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2001 Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.), the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, on Monday urged Americans to keep spending money in light of the terrorist attacks that threaten to push the country's financial situation even further into the ground. Buy American, said Domenici. There is still plenty of surplus in the federal budget, he added, so don't worry about the economy. Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) is also urging consumer confidence.
