MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 In preparation for the upcoming 2002 congressional elections, the Republican party has raised nearly twice as much campaign funds than the Democrats. House Republicans have raised $38.6 million in the first six months of the year, compared to $26 million during the same time frame in 1999. House Democrats have raised $18 million, up from $1 million in 1999. The Republican National Committee has raised a record $48.6 million so far this year while the Democratic National Committee has just $23.6 million. Get the Story:
