Minn. Indian group may lose funds

MONDAY, JULY 30, 2001 A proposal to end state funding for the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council is coming from an odd source: a member of the council. Rep. Sondra Erickson, a Republican, has introduced a bill to get rid of the funding. But lest people claim she is anti-Indian, she also wants to get rid of funding for other minority groups. Erickson's appointment has been criticized by lawmakers. "Why didn't you just appoint General Custer?" said House Minority Leader Tom Pugh. Get the Story:
