GOP reports record donations

Republicans on Thursday reported record fund-raising efforts during the first six months of the year.

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $38.6 million, a 50 percent increase from the same period in 1999.

The Republican National Committee raised $48.6, a 60 percent increase from 1999.

The Democrat Party also raised record funds so far this year, reporting $23.5 million in contributions.
