Tribal opinion on Bush muted

Despite a number of tribal leaders and Native Americans voicing opposition to George W. Bush during the campaign, response since his election and the subsequent naming of his Cabinet nominees has been muted.

Some in California have taken a "wait and see" approach to the new Bush administration. But many will be paying attention to newly confirmed Secretary of Interior Gale Norton and whomever will be named to head the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
