NOVEMBER 6, 2000 THE RACE:
US Senate MAJOR CANDIDATES:
Democrat - Maria Cantwell
Republican - Slade Gorton
THE DL: Too close to call
Many say its time for the 72-year-old Slade "Kennewick" Gorton to go. But the Senator is powerful and it will take more than just endorsements to get the 42-year-old Maria Cantwell back on Capitol Hill. Cantwell is trailing Gorton in the polls but could conceivably win on Tuesday. Its too difficult to predict the outcome. Related Stories:
