Native women show no government gains

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2001 The number of women in state government positions has risen in the past five years among all racial and ethnic groups except American Indians and Alaska Natives. That's the finding of the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society at the State University of New York in Albany. A report the center issued documents that 35 percent of women hold such leadership posts, up from 28 percent five years ago. Get the Story:
