Calif. groups clamor for gaming money

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2001 Now that the state of California has finally distributed casino funds to non-gaming tribes, everyone is fighting for the rest of the money. As part of compacts signed between the state and the tribes, a trust fund was set up. Each tribe with a casino contributes something to the fund. Part of the fund goes to non-gaming tribes. The rest will go to local communities, but there is not yet a plan on how, whom, why or when the money will be distributed. Get the Story:
