SEPTEMBER 27, 2000 The St. Croix Ojibwe Tribe has fired Jan Gangelhoff, a former tutor who accepted money in exchange for authoring students' homework, from her job at its casino in Wisconsin. She was allegedly seen removing documents from the building without permission. The tribe said the decision has nothing to do with the controversy surrounding Gangelhoff. The casino has a policy of firing felons holding casino licenses. On Monday Gangelhoff was set to plead guilty to one felony count but a judge threw it out and dismissed the charge against her.
