Crow Tribe cuts minimum wage

JUNE 5, 2001 Budget woes have forced the Crow Tribe of Montana to cut its minimum wage from $7 an hour to $5.15. Elected last summer, the Bird in Ground administration promise to raise the minimum wage, which they did, only to have cut it last week. Some employees are reportedly upset with the pay cut. The tribe has laid off about 400 of its employees. Its accountant left over allegations the tribe was near bankruptcy. Get the Story:
