Indian preference not used say employees

JUNE 14, 2001 Some American Indian employees of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation say the tribe is not adhering to its policy of Indian preference. The tribe gives preference in hiring and promotions first to qualified tribal members and spouses, and then to other Native Americans. But some say they have been passed over for promotions and have hired a lawyer to pursue their claims. Get the Story:
