APRIL 26, 2000 The last of three tribes who had been making full quarterly casino payments to the state of New Mexico have suspended them. Santa Ana, San Felipe and Sandia Pueblo announced Tuesday that they have stopped paying the state. Laguna Pueblo, who hadn't yet made a payment since their casino is only 6 weeks old, also joined them. Twelve tribes from throughout the state are expected to be named as defendants in a lawsuit filed by New Mexico next month in federal court. The tribes said failure to reach new compacts with the state prompted their decision. Get the Story:
