APRIL 10, 2001 The Eastern Pequot Tribe of Connecticut once again made a pitch to build a $550 million casino in the New London, this time to the city council and city residents. The tribe wants to give the city $7.5 million for land at the dm. Harold E. Shear State Pier and provide a yearly $6.5 million. According to The New London Day, about half of the 22 residents who spoke on teh issue said they opposed it. Others said the proposal deserves more talk and a possible voter referendum.
