TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2001 It happens every day. Wealthy people, powerful companies and big industry lobbyists donate money to political parties, with the expectation -- either overt or impllied -- that it will make government work "easier" for them. Park Place Entertainment, the world's largest gaming company, related affiliates and persons related to legal counsel and top officials have donated upwards of $70,000 to the Democratic interests from about April 2000 to October 2000. And because these contributions occurred as the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's proposed casino -- sponsored by Park Place -- was moving through the decisional process at the BIA, the donations are somehow questionable.
