FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2001

A federal judge in Oklahoma sentenced the manager of the Absentee-Shawnee Tribe to 60 days of home confinement for keeping illegal games running at the Norman casino.

Mickey Burke manages the Thunderbird Entertainment Center. He was told to stop operating slot-like machines -- which the National Indian Gaming Commission said were Class III games being operated without a compact -- but didn't do so in time.

The tribe wants the games classified as Class II. New rules the NIGC is considering might allow the reclassification of the "Red Hot Re- Spin," " Buffalo Nickels" and other machines.
