TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2001 The Mohegan Tribe has signed a lease with the state of Connecticut to rent part of a former hospital for parking. The tribe expects to use about 1,500 spaces primarily on the weekends, shuttling customers to and from the casino. The tribe's new arena is opening this Friday and more spaces are needed, said an official. The leader of Preston, engaged in talks with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, said he was unhappy his town was not consulted but said he thought the deal would not cause too many problems.
