Pequot golf resort plan called inadequate

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2001 A consultant for the Connecticut town North Stonington on Thursday said his firm is ready to reject the Mashantucket Peqout Tribal Nation's proposed golf resort. The tribe wants to build two 18-hole golf courses, a club house and guest villas. The resort would be located around a man-made lake. But the firm says the proposal lacks a detailed lake management plan. The firm also says the golf course would negatively impact the environment. The town's Planning and Zoning Commission wants the firm to come back with a list of conditions that would allow the proposal to be accepted. Get the Story:
