Federal courts want security money

FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 2002 The Bush administration has refused a $250 million request from the federal judiciary to beef up security at courts nationwide. The Office of Management and Budget said the request, which comes on top of $115 million already provided since September 11, didn't qualify as a documented emergency for homeland security funds. But L. Ralph Meethan, the secretary of the Judicial Conference of the United States, says courts need blast-proof windows and the Supreme Court requires stronger barriers. Get the Story:
