THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2002 The new lawmaking body of the Crow Tribe of Montana has been meeting for the past six weeks, discussing a wide array of topics as representatives get used to their new jobs. The speaker of the house is Ben Cloud of the Arrow Creek District. His title is literal in more ways than one: when testimony is given in the Crow language, he often translates for those who don't understand. The legislature is made up of 18 members, three from each of six reservation districts. Of the new body, Cloud tells The Billings Gazette: "We’ve made a lot of progress. We’re off and going."
