Oneida protest 'beautification' rules

JUNE 2, 2000 Oneida Nation residents are organizing a protest against new "beautification" rules that went into effect on Thursday, claiming the rules are only a way for the Nation to legally evict dissident tribal members. The group is planning a march on Washington, DC, and will invite fellow Haudenosaunee/Six Nations members to join with them at their homes during times of inspection. The Oneida Indian Nation Men's Council will begin inspecting homes as early as this month to determine whether or not residents abodes are up to the new standards. Get the Story:
