JUNE 20, 2001 Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation officials and the leaders of three Connecticut towns on Tuesday said their most recent meeting on land-into-trust was productive. But the towns say they still have unanswered questions. They want the tribe to define a limit on the amount of trust land it is seeking. The tribe is considering the request. The meetings between the tribe and the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston are being arranged by freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.). In an editorial today, the New London Day said the meeting was encouraging. A third will be scheduled soon. Get the Story:
