Tribes near agreement over bones

MAY 25, 2000 Several tribes in Nebraska and the surrounding areas are near an agreement with the University of Nebraska at Lincoln over the repartration of the tribes' ancestors. On September, 1, 1998, the university agreed to return more than 1,600 individuals to the tribes but encountered legal problems over culturally unidentifiable remains. The Omaha Tribe have agreed to take the 824 unidentifiable remains. A small memorial will be built on the university's campus. Get the Story:
