MAY 17, 2000 The first hearings on a Congressional bill that would restore the federal recognition status of the Coastal Miwok tribe of Congress began this week. Tribal leader Greg Sarris spoke before the House Resources Committee on Tuesday. The tribe currently has 300 members and a 1-acre homestead in Sonoma County. Get the Story:
