Oneida may remove chairman

MAY 12, 2000 The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin may remove tribal chairman Gerald Danforth. He is accused by tribal members of violating his oath of office. At issue is Danforth's handling of a casino profit distribution plan. The vote will be held on Saturday to determine if the tribe will remove Danforth, who was elected last July. A petition was submitted in February with 92 signatures. 50 are required to call a meeting over removing a chairman. Get the Story:
