Navajo civil right lawsuit continues

FEBRUARY 7, 2001 The Utah Supreme Court on Tuesday sent a lawsuit over the presence of American Indians in the state court system back to the trail court for further proceedings. The lawsuit dates from a 1993 challenge which found little or no Native Americans, especially members of the Navajo Nation, served on juries in San Juan County. A settlement has been worked out between the Judicial Council and the tribe but hasn't yet been enacted. Get the Story:
